Jake started soccer a couple of weeks ago. Here's part of his team picture. Kyra reffed his game last night. I heard her telling him as they walked off the field, "Jacob, you talk as much on the field as you do off the field."
Jacob's reply was, "That's what I do best!"
He's playing defender mostly. In my day we called them fullbacks. He's very content with that and doesn't aspire to be a forward in the middle of chaos. He did get to play forward for a few minutes last night, so I'm happy he got some running around. His team is very good....they've never lost....so there's hardly any action down by the goal.
He's enjoying the 5th grade. The third day of school he came home "hating" his teacher and on the verge of tears because one of his teacher's rules was no singing on the bus. I asked him if they were on a bus today. He said No. I asked if they were going on a bus soon, and he said No. I said, "Oh, she's just talking about when you take field trips on the bus which is about twice a year." He said, Yes, and that he ALWAYS sings on the bus. We talked about his teacher being Grandma-aged and maybe she didn't like the noise. The very next day he came flying home and told me how much he LOVES his teacher. I asked Why? And he said that every Friday they get a FUN Friday, which means they do fun stuff after lunch like play games and watch movies. So....Fun Fridays win over No Singing on the Bus. Whew!!!
