First Dance

Thanks to cousin Amy, this picture caught Erica dancing her first dance....at a YMCA horse camp she attended in August. If she thought closing her eyes was going to make the photographer go away....well, maybe I need to teach her a few more things. Erica spent a week up in a beautiful mountain setting with 30 other kids. She was a "wrangler" so that meant getting up at 6am every morning to feed the horses and toss hay bales. (By the way, the toss-hay-bales part landed her in the emergency room when she started having major abdominal pains the day after she returned home. Apparently her side muscles retaliated after 6 days and thought she needed "strains" to slow her down and give them a rest! So she was heavily medicated for 3 days until the muscle strains could calm down) She wrote in her journal or letters until 7:30am (flag raising) then they were off involved in various activities. The first half of the day involved horses, the latter half "other fun stuff." She fell in love with her counselors and other staff members of the camp. Once again she couldn't talk fast enough to tell me everything. She laughed a lot, which is a huge bonus. I reminded her to take pictures to remember her fun......and guess what? All the pictures were of horses! That is SO Erica. Forget the people.....let's just concentrate on the important things!

Hi Erica. Hope you had a great time at camp, but was sorry to hear you over-exurted yourself and were in pain. Hope this new school year is fun for you.
