Spring Break 2010

Over spring break, we all went on a trip to California’s parks: Six Flags/Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Sea World, Hollywood, and then a variety of beaches. Six Flags is pretty much the home to the biggest roller coasters around. Apparently the ride everyone wanted to go on was something like X2. Personally, I prefer to keep my feet solidly on the ground. I’m not much of a big roller coaster person. And that was pretty much the only thing in the park. Their water section was closed down because it was still too cold in the year, even though it looked the most fun. Next I think we went to Hollywood and looked at all the stars in the sidewalk with names on them. I thought it was funny they gave a whole star to the Munchkins. If the Munchkins got a star, then Matt Damon sure should have. Next we went to Universal Studios for two days. I thought the two days were worth it. It was one of my favorites besides Sea World. There were rides and shows for all sorts of movies. Jurassic Park, Back Draft, The Mummy, Water World, The Terminator 2, etc. They had a set tour and we went through London and Whoville, which were made out of Styrofoam. Right behind Whoville is the Bates Motel from Psycho. Remember that next time you watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas. We also saw Jaws’ port and several vehicles from various movies. We spent two days at Sea World too. That was my favorite. All the kids voted our favorite thing to do was go swimming with dolphins. They feel really weird, but it was way fun. We watched the Shamu Orca show but the dolphin show was closed to remodel the set. My new favorite animals are sea lions. At the La Jolla beach we went Kayaking. Our tour guide was really funny. His favorite word was intense and he was afraid of scuba diving and pink toasters. Near the end our arms got tired, and we couldn’t go inside the caves because of how strong the waves were. We also went to Huntington beach. Kyra and I waded deep into the ocean looking for shells. There were hundreds of shells. Most of the bigger ones were broken, but I liked the little ones better. They had more color and came in several different kinds, not just the typical scoop shape. We have lots of pictures from this trip, we'll put together a slide show so you can see more. . Read more!

BYU Ballroom Dance Performance

Quite a while ago, Adam, Jake, Mom, and I all went down to watch the BYU ballroom dancers do a show. They have been world champions since 1983 in formation, and they are AMAZING. Their outfits and performances were dazzling. We all voted our favorite when they turned off the lights and turned on the black lights. They dressed up in outlandish alien costumes and danced around. Personally, I think that would be the best job in the entire world. My other favorite was where they waltzed to Pirates of the Caribbean. That is now my life dream. At the end they had this huge sheet pulled over them all, and when it got pulled to the side they were all gone. Very dramatic. Kyra's Party

This is Erica speaking (: Kyra had over a bunch of friends over to watch a movie called Blind Side the other night. I was down watching a movie first and then they kicked me out so I had to go upstairs with Adam. We were the only ones home, and we were both pretty bored. Annoyed that they had kicked me out and not let me finish my movie, I stole all of Kyra’s friends’ left shoes and Adam helped me hide them in the dryer, the freezer, on the ceiling fan, etc. It was entertaining to watch them try and find them. We also took a snapshot of a Google web page, and put it as Kyra’s background on her user. Then Adam put all her icons in a hidden folder and hid the start bar so she can’t log out. But she hasn’t figured it out yet, so don’t make it known to her. Read more!

Adam and Kyra's Swing Club Year-End Bash

Kyra and Adam are in a swing club after school on Fridays. I would love to join, but I’m not in high school. The point? They go and swing dance after school on Fridays. They get a T-shirt and dance moves. Just the other day they had their first annual (I don’t think it should be called annual if it’s their first) dance party thing. They invited over a bunch of friends and parents and they danced. A few people had practiced routines, like Kyra and Adam. Kyra danced with her friend Collin, and they did a swing to “Check Yes Juliet” by some artist. Adam did a waltz with his girlfriend to “You and Me” by Lifehouse. They both did good. Then just before I had to go, a waltz, my favorite, came on and Adam danced with me. That is one of the highlights of my life. You’d know why if you’ve ever danced with Adam.
