Underf-ed

In case any of you are even remotely interested in what’s going on, hi. This is Erica. Mom is . . . busy. With stuff. Yeah. I was voted top reporter and take my duty very seriously. I have interviewed everyone very thoroughly-ish and am here to tell you what is going on. Dad: he said he hadn’t done anything this week. But, using my stealth ninja skills, I saw him showing Jake how to fix the brakes on Saturday. They were under the car for like, an hour. But dad will admit that they did a good job and that Jacob shows promising mechanical...intuity. Mom: Mom went to Women’s Conference for two days at BYU. She said it was great, and that she hoped it would become a tradition, and she would bring friends next time. I’m not allowed to go. I don’t see why not. I mean, it’s not a big secret or anything. She had fun, so I wanted to go. (MOM’S EDIT: You have to be 16). Adam: I asked Adam what he had done this week. He said school. That was it. I instantly knew this was code for him not wanting me to know about something. So, with some digging, I discovered that he has also been working hard on his invitation to his girlfriend Jess to go to prom with him. I’m not allowed to say that she’s his girlfriend, but it’s not like he’s going to read any of this, so I guess it’s okay. But it is not okay to tell him. He has also worked mega hours lifeguarding this week. No saves, but he still gets paid. Kyra: Kyra had a very enjoyable night at the prom. She went to a different one that Adam is going to. Her friend from Davis High asked her. She made her own dress, then made me take pictures, because she knows about my ninja skills with handling cameras and flaming objects. She is also very, very busy preparing for an AP test in European History. Soccer season has also started up and she's reffing up a storm on Saturdays. Jake: Jake has been busy with karate recently. Apparently, he got first place in his chop-stick-throwing contest. I bet the rest of his opponents were paralyzed. Not like, turn-to-stone-paralyzed but the oh-my-gosh-that-kid-is-good-and-he’s-going-to-win-us-at-throwing-chopsticks sort of paralyzed. He said he’s training in the ways on the ninja. I promised him he could be my minion. Me: So, well, not much has actually happened that I feel free to let out into the general public. This is classified information we’re talking about here. But I suppose I should tell you about my underf-ed story. So I was reading about the Holocaust in English, right? And I came across the word “underfed” un-derf-ed. So, not quite understanding what this meant, I looked up the root word “derf” in the dictionary. But I couldn’t find it. I was going to ask the teacher, but felt stupid, because what if it was obvious, but I just didn’t get it? About two hours later, at a moment of silence during lunch, I was thinking about it and discovered that it was the word “under-fed” not the past tense of the word “underf.” Wow, I love enlightening moments! I joined the track team a week ago and ran the 800m in last Tuesday's meet. Tried the high jump and figured out that I really need some"how-to's" from any coach who's willing. Copper is our dog, in case any of you were wondering. I’m sure I can get a picture of him without noticing and post it. He’s been doing pretty good. Full of energy and stuff. He’s cute. That’s probably why he’s mine. Ours. I meant ours. He got sick a little while ago, and needs a checkup, but he’s been sleeping a lot. He’s lazy.

Dan and I really enjoyed reading this blog post. You are a very good writer Erica. Very entertaining read. I am very impressed with Kyra's prom dress too! I made my prom dress as well and it did not look that cute. Good job!
