New Haircut/Style

I've been thinking for some time about doing something different with my locks. I've liked them long and wavy, but then there are THOSE DAYS where nothing quite goes right. I've been making some other changes lately that have resulted in 4 inches off my waist....so I decided to take an additional 5 inches off my hair to lighten myself up even more! Here's a before and after shot.
I've lightened it up as well for the first time, but I don't think the pictures really show it that well. It's been 4 whole days and it's been fun.

Adam at BYU Nationals

Last Thursday Adam participated at BYU in a national amateur ballroom championship. He danced the West Coast Swing with his friend Alyse Wilde. If you click on the title it will take you straight to YouTube to watch him dance. I drove down with him early that afternoon and we had a good time together watching the other events. Our favorite event was the team formations. I wish I had thought of videotaping them, but I didn't. I guess I was in too much awe. There were 11 teams, each with incredible costumes (that's what Mom first noticed) and outstanding dance moves (that's what Adam noticed). To watch them do all their fancy dance moves in synchronization was truly amazing and phenomenal. The music they chose was equally distinguished. We heard everything from "Hairspray" selections, older Broadway hits to Queen, Van Halen and Star Trek-type funky techno whatever. It was just a COOL event all the way around -- something I'd love to take my kids to, if just to watch the formations, the next time around. Read more!

Adam's 1st Ballroom Team Performance

This is a video of one of Adam's routines he learned with the Davis County Ballroom Team. It's the West Coast Swing using a very slow Christmas song. His group performed at several wards' Christmas dinners over the past holiday season. This was one of them. I'm just a little slow at getting stuff on here. Just click on the title and it will take you to YouTube.com and start playing the video automatically. Read more!

Jacob's 11th Birthday

Jacob turned 11 yesterday. We celebrated by going out to a pizza buffet Saturday afternoon as a family, and then having Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner tonight, opening presents and having Dairy Queen's Mint Oreo ice cream cake.
This is Jake enjoying the fun comments made about him on his aunt's family website.
Blowing and wishing.

More Family Night Fun

Jake's choice of a family activity one night was pulling taffy. I'd never made taffy before, but he was diligent in getting the recipe from his Cub Scout leader and we embarked on a new venture. It turned out to be a lot of fun, especially when we started to create Whoville creations from Dr. Seuss' imagination. I thought the older kids would just patiently endure Jake's choice of fun, but they all enjoyed themselves while laughing and joking with each other. Another precious snapshot to add to our family memories.

Anniversary Wall

Here's a picture of the wall in our master bedroom I revamped for our 21st anniversary. Yes, Bill liked it. He's actually dragged some of our friends in there to see it. They were kind to ignore the clutter!

Arrow of Light

Last month Jacob earned his Arrow of Light in his last pack meeting of the Cub Scout organization. He turned 11 yesterday and is now an official Boy Scout. During the pack meeting, his Webelos den did a pretty funny skit. The theme was When I Grow Up. They had a time machine and so each boy went in and came out dressed as what they were going to be when they grew up...a teacher, a soccer player, a doctor, a construction worker, etc. Jacob was the last to go in and came out in an adult Cub Scout shirt and said in a whiny voice, "Ohhhhh, I'm going to be a Cubmaster!" Cute stuff. It hit me at the meeting that this wasn't only Jacob's last pack meeting, but mine as well...no more skits, no more silly cheers.
